VILLA GARDENS GROUP ‐ Living and working with HIV

The women’s group Villa Gardens was officially registered as a self-help group in 2018. This group is located in the district of Migori. The group is made up of women of different ages. All members have accepted their positive HIV/AIDS status and live with the disease, for which they need to regularly take antiretroviral drugs. Some of the women are widowed and have taken on the responsibility of providing for their families. All the women run their businesses in the town of Awendo and the centre of Rapogi, and are mainly involved in trading cereals, vegetables, tomatoes, fish and fruit.

Sr. Judith Adongo coordinates the group. The chairperson of the group participated in the official STARTHILFEKENIA training course at the seminar held in 2018 in Karungu.
